The complete LATEX workflow,
offline on your iPad and iPhone.
A real LuaTeX engine runs inside the app, so you write, compile and proofread with no connection and no server queue. Packages, bibliographies, SyncTeX and Git are built in, and every screen is made for touch and keyboard.

A real LuaTeX engine that works offline
TeXAnt ships LuaHBTeX and LuaTeX inside the app. Your document compiles on the device, with no upload and no build queue, so it works on a plane just as well as at your desk.
- ✓LuaHBTeX by default, with HarfBuzz shaping for Arabic, Hebrew, Devanagari and OpenType fonts. Plain LuaTeX is one setting away.
- ✓Two ways to compile from one button: Full starts clean, Fast reuses the last run's auxiliary files while you iterate.
- ✓Reruns by itself until cross-references, contents, lists of figures, indexes and glossaries settle.
- ✓BibTeX, biblatex (Biber), makeindex, glossaries and nomencl run as part of the compile.
- ✓Stop ends a runaway compile at any point, including loops inside Lua code.
- ✓The Problems panel lists errors and warnings, with the full log one tap away. If a helper step fails, you still get the PDF and a clear warning.
An article compiled on the device, with the source on the left and the PDF on the right
Your research belongs to you.
Compiling never leaves your device.
Drafts, data and unpublished results stay on your iPad while you write and compile. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you connect a cloud account, a Git remote or an AI provider yourself.
No Upload to Compile
The engine runs on the device, so your source, .bib files and figures are never sent to a server to build the PDF.
No Ad Tracking
No advertising identifier and no ad networks. Diagnostics are anonymous, off by default, and never include file names, source or PDFs.
Encrypted on the Device
The app's local database is encrypted with a key that is created on your device and kept in its Keychain.
