TERMS OF USE

Terms for the TeXAnt app and website.

Last updated: October 4, 2026

These terms form an agreement between you and TeXAnt covering the TeXAnt application and the texant.app website. By installing or using the app, or by browsing this site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use TeXAnt.

Who you are dealing with

TeXAnt is an independent product built and operated by a solo developer based in Türkiye. It is not a company, and there is no organisation behind it other than its developer. Support, privacy requests and questions about these terms all reach the same person, at the addresses given below. The developer's identity and address are verified by Apple as part of App Store seller registration, and the developer's legal name is shown as the seller on the TeXAnt App Store listing. If you need those registered details in writing for a formal request, ask at the address below and they will be provided.

Licence

TeXAnt grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use TeXAnt on devices you own or control, for your own academic, professional or personal work. You may not resell, sublicense, rent, reverse engineer, or redistribute the app or attempt to extract its bundled typesetting engine for separate distribution, except where such a restriction is prohibited by law or permitted by the licence of an included open-source component.

Relationship with Apple

TeXAnt is distributed through the App Store and is licensed, not sold, to you. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your download. Where these terms and Apple's agreement cover the same point and conflict, Apple's agreement prevails.

  • This agreement is between you and the developer of TeXAnt only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for TeXAnt or its contents.
  • The developer, not Apple, is solely responsible for support and maintenance of TeXAnt. Apple has no obligation to furnish any support services.
  • In the event the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to TeXAnt.
  • The developer, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim relating to TeXAnt, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to conform to a legal requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
  • The developer, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party claim that TeXAnt infringes that party's intellectual property rights.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Your content is yours

You retain every right in the documents, figures, bibliographies and other material you create with TeXAnt. We claim no ownership or licence over your work, and the app does not transmit it to our servers. You are responsible for your content and for having the rights to any third-party material you include.

Subscriptions and purchases

TeXAnt offers a free tier. TeXAnt Pro is available as an auto-renewing six-month subscription, an auto-renewing annual subscription, and a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the App Store in your local currency before you confirm.

  • Payment is charged to your App Store account when you confirm the purchase.
  • A subscription renews automatically for the same period unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of that period.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your App Store account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • The lifetime purchase is a one-time, non-renewing transaction covering the Pro features available in TeXAnt.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policy; TeXAnt cannot issue App Store refunds directly.
  • If prices change, existing subscribers are notified in advance and a change takes effect only on a subsequent renewal.

Acceptable use

You may not use TeXAnt or this website to break the law, to infringe someone else's rights, to attempt unauthorized access to our systems or anyone else's, to interfere with availability, or to circumvent licensing or entitlement checks.

Third-party services and open source

TeXAnt can connect to services you choose: cloud storage providers, Git remotes, reference managers, CTAN package mirrors and AI providers you supply your own key for. Your use of those services is governed by their terms, and we are not responsible for their content, availability or policies. TeXAnt also includes open-source components, including the TeX Live distribution and the LuaTeX and LuaHBTeX engines, which remain subject to their own licences; those licences are listed in the app under Settings → About.

Trademarks

Apple, the Apple logo, iPad, iPhone and iCloud are trademarks of Apple Inc. GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Overleaf, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, Yandex Disk, Amazon S3, Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote, OpenAI, Anthropic, Claude, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, NVIDIA and the other product names and logos shown in the app or on this website are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. They are used only to identify the services TeXAnt can connect to, and TeXAnt is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of these companies. TeX is a trademark of the American Mathematical Society.

Availability and warranty

TeXAnt and this website are provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the maximum extent allowed by law, TeXAnt disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. Typesetting output depends on your source files and on third-party packages; you are responsible for reviewing your compiled documents before relying on or submitting them.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, TeXAnt is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost work. Keep backups of important documents; the app's cloud and Git integrations exist to help you do so. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

Termination

You may stop using TeXAnt at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end the licence if these terms are materially breached. Your documents remain on your device and in your own cloud accounts, and are not affected by termination of the licence.

Website use and product information

You may use this website to learn about TeXAnt, contact the team, read updates and share public links. You may not misuse the site or interfere with its availability. We aim to keep feature descriptions, compatibility notes and release updates accurate, but capabilities may change as TeXAnt evolves; screenshots, copy and roadmap material are informational and may change without notice. The TeXAnt name, branding, website copy and original visual material are the property of TeXAnt unless otherwise noted; third-party marks remain with their owners.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Istanbul have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings where you live. That exception includes the Turkish Consumer Protection Act (Law No. 6502) for consumers in Türkiye, and equivalent consumer rules elsewhere.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The updated version becomes effective when published on this page with a new revision date. Continuing to use TeXAnt after that point means you accept the update.
